We have a variety of indoor and outdoor projects throughout the year. Whether you’re skilled or just willing to lend a hand, your help is always appreciated. Simply drop by and speak to the Bosun to get involved.
Venue Hire: Host Your Event on Bristol’s Oldest Floating Wooden Ship
The John Sebastian Lightship, an iconic vessel built in 1885, offers a truly unique venue for private hire. Perfect for parties, celebrations, and community events, this historic ship promises an unforgettable experience.
You’re welcome to visit during our Thursday socials (7 PM – 11 PM) to see the venue and discuss your event.
Hire Includes:
- Exclusive use of the John Sebastian Lightship:
- Deck area overlooking Bathurst Basin.
- Stairs leading to a cozy, well-stocked bar area.
- Event space equipped for live performances:
- Wooden dance floor and stage, ideal for bands and performances.
- PA sound system, mixing desks, and two microphones included.
- Hospitality:
- Warm and friendly staff and volunteers.
- Well-stocked bar.
- Upstairs lobby suitable for serving food platters.
- Optional Sound Engineer:
- Available on request at an additional cost.
The John Sebastian has capacity for a maximum of 90 guests.
Accessibility
The John Sebastian Lightship is not currently wheelchair accessible due to two flights of stairs leading to the performance area. However, the committee is actively working on plans to improve accessibility in the future.
